1921 - 2015 BRATTLEBORO Florence E. Pritting, 93, a longtime resident of Dummerston and more recently Valley Cares in Townshend, died peacefully Sunday afternoon, May 24, 2015 at Pine Heights Nursing Home. Mrs. Pritting was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on July 9, 1921, the daughter of William and Florence (Wister) Buck. She was raised and educated in Brooklyn, eventually moving to Vermont. For many years she had been employed as a credit officer for the former Dunham Shoe Company in Brattleboro. Previously, she had worked as a telephone operator for New England Telephone Company, working in the Brattleboro office and before that in New York. She was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Of her leisure time activities Mrs. Pritting enjoyed travel, especially taking day trips, was an avid reader and devoted Boston Red Sox fan. She also treasured time spent with her family. On June 16, 1943 in Brooklyn she was married to Lester W. Pritting who predeceased her on July 30, 2012. Survivors include two sons, William Pritting and his wife, Randi of Colchester, CT and Russell Pritting and wife, Nancy of Brattleboro, a daughter, Diane Miles of Manchester, VT, one sister, Dena Allison of Glastonbury, CT, two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Gloria Kukla of Glastonbury, CT. In keeping with Mrs. Pritting's final wishes, funeral services will be private with entombment in Oakwood Cemetery in Townshend. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to Grace Cottage Hospital, Route 35, Townshend, VT 05353.
