1948 - 2016 Frank A. LeRay, 68, of Colchester, Vermont passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at the University of Vermont Medical Center after a prolonged illness, with the love of his life, Maureen Griffin and his good friend William Barrett, by his side. Frank was born on April 7, 1948 in Brattleboro, Vermont to Donald, Sr. and Nellie Pearl (Clark) LeRay. He graduated from Brattleboro Union High School in 1966 and attended the University of Vermont, majoring in mathematics. Frank devoted six years of service to his country with the 131st Engineers of the Vermont State National Guard. Frank worked at IBM in Essex Jct, Vermont as a line operator for 28 years. Frank had a passion for cooking and was a very accomplished chef, creating many unique culinary dishes that family and friends enjoyed and raved about throughout the years. Frank loved all animals, but especially the many dogs and cats he had during his lifetime. He also loved to travel and took many wonderful trips with Maureen and their furry friends. He was also an avid sports fan who stood by his favorite team, the Boston Red Sox, through good years and bad. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved Maureen, his sister, Dorothy Class, his very special niece, Robin (Robbie Liz) Zegge, his aunt-in- law, Carol Griffin, Maureen's cousin MJ Fitzgerald, as well as, his good friend William Barrett. He is also survived by numerous nephews and cousins, and his much loved canine companions, Toby, Sammy and Jethro and his cats Galaxy and Elvira. He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers, Donald LeRay, Jr. and Robert Willard and his fun loving nephew, Brett Cassidy. FUNERAL NOTICE: Relatives and friends are invited to attend a service honoring Frank's life and memory on Monday, October 3, at Ready Funeral Home South Chapel, 261 Shelburne Road, Burlington, VT at 2:00 pm. Visiting hours are from 11:00 am until the hour of the service. Interment will be in Resurrection Park Cemetery, 200 Hinesburg Road, South Burlington, VT following the service. In lieu of flowers, friends are invited to contribute donations to one of Frank's favorite charities - The Humane Society of Chittenden County, 142 Kindness Court, South Burlington, VT 05403.
