Glenn L. Slason

1934 - 2016 Glenn Lawrence Slason, age 82, of Ocala, Florida, formerly of Brattleboro, Vermont, died peacefully in his home on July 5, 2016 with his wife and family by his side. Glenn was born August 30, 1934 in Springfield, VT., the son of Lawrence H. Slason and Marguerite B. Coleman. He grew up in Rawsonville, VT. where he attended the one room schoolhouse. On June 19, 1953 Glenn married Leona Bombardier in Manchester, VT. They had three sons, Lawrence, Michael, and John. As a young man Glenn worked as a logger in the West River valley for Roy Coleman, Inc. He later worked at the Book Press bindery in Brattleboro. He became an expert in the set up and operation of printing and bindery machines and was hired to set up a bindery in New Jersey and three other binderies in southern Florida. Glenn was a avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting with his sons and spending time with his family. He took many photographs and made CD scrapbooks which are treasured by the members of his family. Glenn was predeceased by his parents and brother Wayne whom he missed deeply. He is survived by his devoted wife Leona of 63 years who honored her promise to care for Glenn at home as long as she was able during his years of declining health. Glenn is also survived by son Lawrence and wife Celia Minott Slason of Walpole, NH.,,son Michael and wife Kimberley Nelson Slason of Orlando, Fl., son John of Derby, Vt.; grandchildren Jonathan Slason of Hinesburg, VT, Laura Dobens of Hollis, NH, Matthew and Christopher Slason of Orlando, FL, Myles Slason of Port St. Lucie, FL., great grandchildren Fletcher Dobens and Ezekiel Lovitz-Slason, Wayne's wife Patricia Slason of West Palm Beach, FL. and nephew Douglas Slason of Stuart, FL., and niece Donna Slason Denney of West Palm Beach, FL. The family will hold a private burial service at the Jamaica, VT., cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made in Glenn's memory to Hospice of Marion County, PO box 4860, Ocala, FL. 34478
