1988 - 2016 DUMMERSTON Ian A. Tkaczyk, 27, of US Route 5 in Dummerston died unexpectedly Thursday, May 5, 2016 at his home. Ian was born in Greenfield, Massachusetts on July 22, 1988 the son of Brian and Lori (Brookes) Tkaczyk. He attended Saint Michael's School in Brattleboro and went on to graduate from Vermont Academy in Saxtons River, Class of 2006. Ian continued his education by completing coursework at Penn State University. While attending Vermont Academy he excelled in soccer, and competed in several regional competitions and championships. For the past two years he had been employed as a prep cook for A Vermont Table, a catering company based in Putney. Previously he worked for Radio Shack in Brattleboro and for the Vermont Bread Company. Ian was raised Catholic and attended Saint Michael's Roman Catholic Church. He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed spending time with his many friends. In conjunction with his love for soccer, he enjoyed playing video games. Survivors include his mother, Lori Tkaczyk of Tampa, Florida; one sister, Lesley Tkaczyk and her fiance Kevin Miller and his family of Coconut Creek, Florida; his maternal grandmother, Lillian Brookes of Dummerston; paternal grandmother Elaine Tkaczyk of Brattleboro; several aunts, uncles and many cousins. In addition to his relations, he leaves an extended surrogate family including "parents" John and Nancy Clements, "brothers" Wesley and Jared Clements, Sean Cullen and Dillon Gauthier of Brattleboro. He was predeceased by his father who died on May 11, 2003, and his grandfathers, Walter T. Brookes and Theodore "Ted" Tkaczyk. FUNERAL NOTICE: There are no formal funeral services scheduled. Friends are invited to call at the Atamaniuk Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. A brief prayer service will be held at the close of the visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ian's name may be made to Vermont Academy Advancement Office, P.O. Box 500, Saxtons River, VT, 05154, or to the Windham County Humane Society, P.O.
