1930 - 2015 NORTH WALPOLE N.H. John Michael Prendergast a lifelong resident of North Walpole, N.H. died peacefully on Thursday April 30, surrounded by his family at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. "Pendy" was born in 1930 in Torring-ton, Conn. to James W. and Mary E. (Landers) Prender-gast. John attended the Elisha Keep and John Kilburn Schools and Bellows Falls High School before enlisting in the army. He was extremely proud of his Irish lineage and military service. Other life achievements include, U.S. Army, Master Sergeant, Korean era, American Legion life member and past Post Commander of Pierce-Lawton Post 37, Drum Major for the Lancers - American Legion Drum and Bugle Corps, Life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and past Commander of VFW Post 10037, life member of the Bellows Falls Polish American Club, former member and Captain of the North Walpole fire department. John worked 38 years for Green Mountain Power Corporation starting as a lineman and retiring as Assistant Superintendent, Southern Division - Bellows Falls, Vt. He was a sixty year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 300. In 1952, John married the love of his life, Laura May Willard of Gageville, Vt. They were married 57 years when Laura passed in 2010. He is survived by three loving daughters, Deborah (Prendergast) Smith and husband, Jack, of Springfield, Vt., Linda (Prender-gast) Stewart and husband, William, and Mary (Pren-dergast) Kinson and husband, Kenneth, all of Charlestown, N.H. John had three sisters, Helen (Prendergast) Mc-Auliffe who died in 2013, survived by her husband, Paul A. McAuliffe, of Baldwin, Mass., Nancy (Roddy) Caissie and husband, William, of Manchester, N.H., and Gail F. Roddy who died in 1950. He is survived by six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, Steven Stewart, wife, Emily (Esslinger) Stewart, and children, Ethan, Ella, Avery and Clara; Jeffrey Stewart, children Erin and Ryan; Melissa (Stewart) Grillone, husband, Hunter, and daughters, Makenna, Sofia and Stella; Kara (Kinson) Adams, husband, Scott, and daughter, Matilda; Kristin (Smith) DeBockler, husband, Scot, and daughter Annabel; Allison Smith, partner, Robert Macias, and daughter, Lilly. John is also survived by many special nieces and nephews as well as Laura's remaining siblings, Beryl (Willard) Jackson and husband, John, Grace (Willard) Parrott and husband, Kenneth, Arthur Willard and wife, Clara; brother-in-law, Ralph Willard Jr.; and sister-in-law, Irene Willard predeceased him. FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours are Wednesday, May 6, from 6 - 9 p.m. at FENTON AND HENNESSEY FUNERAL HOME, 55 Westminster St., Bellows Falls, Vt. Funeral service at St. Peter's Catholic Church, North Walpole, N.H. on Thursday May 7 at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, Rte. 123, Drewsville, N.H.
