1924 - 2015 GUILFORD Joseph E. Roberto, age 91, of Guilford, VT, beloved husband of Barbara Lee Roberto, entered into eternal rest on September 30, 2015.Joe was born on April 21, 1924 in Bridgeport, CT, the son of Joseph and Rose Mazzerella Roberto. Joe was a depression era child born into a loving family. He grew up to serve his country in the Army in North Africa and Europe.He was wounded and awarded a Purple Heart in southern France. After the war he pursued a career in construction, building roads, bridges and multi-unit housing throughout the entire northeast. He enjoyed travel, golf, fishing and hunting, as well as the company of family,many friends, and fraternal organizations. In addition to his devoted wife, he leaves to cherish his memory, brother, Michael Roberto and wife, Lorraine of Florida, his children, Joseph Roberto and wife, Patricia of Trumbull, CT, Christopher Roberto and his wife, Lisa of Monroe, CT, Lee Roberto and wife, Sandra of Saylorsburg, PA, Nanette Roberto of Cambridge, MA, Daniel Roberto and wife, Alex of Girdwood, AK, his 10 cherished grandchildren, of whom he was most proud; Matthew and wife, Melissa, Meredith and fiance, Cassandra, Rachel, Leah and husband, Jeff DeVito, Alaina,Christopher, Abigail, Colton, Dustin and Olivea. He also leaves two great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Juliana Roberto, as well as many nieces and nephews and his beloved pet dog, Lilly. Joe was predeceased by his older brother, Fred and sister Laura. Joe will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who were fortunate enough toknow him. FUNERAL NOTICE: The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Walnut St., Brattleboro, VT. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA. Friends may call at Atamaniuk Funeral Home on Sunday from 7p.m. to 9p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe's name may be made to: The VA Medical Center, 215 North Main St., White River Junction, VT 05009.
