Joshua Perkins Obituary
Joshua J. Perkins

Joshua James Perkins, age 37 of Jonesborough, Tennessee, died unexpectedly of natural causes on April 10, 2016. The New Hampshire native was an avid sports fan. Growing up in Hinsdale, Josh excelled at basketball, soccer, and at his most beloved sport of all: baseball. His passion for the sport began at age six-years-old, continued at Hinsdale elementary, middle, and high schools, and lead Josh to compete in the Babe Ruth World Series at just 15-years-old. Josh also played in college and became a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan. As much as Josh loved sports, he loved his family and friends even more. Likable, funny, and the kind of friend who never shied from helping others through tough times, Josh could quietly light up a room with his wide grin and infectious warmth. He relished camping trips with lifelong friends at his father's homestead. He enjoyed playing fantasy sports and running races, including the New York City Marathon, where Josh raised money to fight Parkinson's disease. An accomplished chef, Josh loved to cook for family and friends and never missed a chance to savor a basket of lobsters and steamers with a glass of red wine. Josh graduated from Southern New Hampshire University with a degree in culinary arts. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from East Tennessee State University and worked in sales at Sysco, a food services company. He previously served as restaurant, bar, and special events manager at the Black Thorn Club (formerly The Ridges). Josh is survived by his mother and stepfather, Melanie and Jim Harrison of Winchester, NH; his father, Barry Perkins of Hinsdale, NH; his sister and brother-in-law, Kelsey and Tim Crowley of New York, NY; and his loving girlfriend, Karen Christensen of Charlotte, NC. Josh is also survived by his beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins. Josh was eagerly awaiting the birth of his niece. Josh was preceded in death by his nephew, John Timothy "Jack" Crowley, Jr., and his grandparents, William and Lorraine Stetson, Jim and Marjorie Perkins. FUNERAL SERVICE: Family and friends will gather on April 23, 2016, to celebrate Josh's remarkable life at the VFW Hall in Winchester, NH, at noon. A separate celebration will be held at The Carnegie Hotel in Johnson City, TN, on May 7, 2016 at 5:30 in the afternoon. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Hinsdale Cal Ripken League, PO Box 221, Hinsdale, NH 03451.
