June L. Atherton Obituary
June L. Atherton, 89, of Grand Isle. On Sunday, April 15, 2018, June was reunited with her perfect partner, Sandy for their forever dance.

She was born in Burlington, June 9, 1928, daughter of Guy and Kathleen (McKenzie) Leach. She attended St. Mary's High School and graduated from Trinity College in 1950. On April 3, 1951, she married Sanford (Sandy) Atherton in St. Patrick's Chapel at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. June was employed for 25 years with North Country Federal Credit Union (formally Burlington City Employees C.U.) retiring in 2002. An Active member of St. Joseph's Church in Grand Isle, she was involved in the Parish Guild, many fund raising and social activities. The two things most precious to June were her Family and her Faith.

She is survived by her children, Howard and Jan, Essex; Mary Kay and Joe, Essex Jct; Darlene, Grand Isle; Donald and Cindy, Milton; Cheryl and John, Port St. John, FL; Dale and Jane, So. Burlington; Wendy and David, Swannanoa, NC.; 16 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren, her sister, Marion and her brother, Bernard, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband Sandy, sister, Betty, brothers, Ed and Bill, a daughter-in-law Ann and son-in-law, Gary.

Calling Hours will be held on April 19, 2018 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Ready Funeral Home South Chapel, 261 Shelburne Rd. Burlington, VT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday April 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in South Hero, VT. Burial will be in the spring at Fort Ethan Allen Cemetery in Colchester when it opens.
