Katherine M. Blake Obituary
Katherine Mary (Catty) Blake, 89, of Islesboro, Maine and Bellows Falls, Vermont, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 11, 2016 at Boardman Cottage in Islesboro.

Catty was born in North Walpole, New Hampshire on March 7; 1927.She was married to John Gerald Blake on August 3, 1947 and was his wife for over sixty years. Together they raised eight children in North Westminster (Gageville), Vermont.

Catty was predeceased by her husband, John, her son, David, and her daughter, Eileen, She is survived by six of her eight children: MaryBeth Blake of Islesboro; Reverend Peter Blake of St. Louis, MO; Pauline O'Brien and her husband, Joe, of Bellows Falls; Thomas Blake of Fitzwilliam, NH; Katherine Blake of Bellows Falls and Pat Lindahl of Clinton, CT. In addition she is survived by her beloved grandchildren: Tara Gavin, Chastity Albert, David Anderson, Seth Warner, Thomas Blake, Michael Blake and Michele Crawford, Taylor Wellington, Blake O'Brien, Leigh Blake and Gwen, Travis and Avery Tatro. There are also a vast number of nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren who comprise her loving family.

Catty was the last surviving member of the Kiniry family of North Walpole, NH, and was predeceased by her parents, George and Margaret Kiniry, as well as her brothers and sisters: Julia, Marion, Doris, Malcolm, Elizabeth, Edward, Francis, William, Daniel, Alice, Anne, George, Ellen, Jean and Margaret.

For most of her life, Catty spent at home in Gageville raising her eight children. For part of her life, she worked at Whitney Blake in Bellows Falls and later joined the staff of Head Start in North Westminster. One of her greatest joys in life was swimming and she taught all of her children and most of her grandchildren how to swim. She was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting; snow shoeing, quilting and line dancing but especially playing Scrabble which she continued to do almost daily.

Catty was a devout Catholic and spent over thirty years as a strong alto voice in the St. Charles Church choir.

There will be calling hours Friday, December 9th from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home in Bellows Falls, VT. The funeral service for Katherine Blake will occur at 10:30 on December 10, 2016 at St. Charles Church in Bellows Falls, Her son, Father Peter Blake, will be officiating. Burial will follow the funeral at St. Charles Cemetery. A celebration of Catty's life and legacy will occur after the burial at St. Peter's Church Hall in North Walpole, NH.

In lieu of flowers donations may be given or sent to Boardman Cottage at 131 Main Road in Islesboro, Maine 04848. The family of Catty Blake wishes to thank the entire staff of the Boardman Cottage for their competent and gentle care of their mother.
