Kathleen D. LaTaille

1931 - 2016 Jamaica - Kathleen Dolores (Capone) LaTaille, died on April 21, 2016, at Grace Cottage Hospital in Townshend, VT, following a brief illness. Born in Union City, N.J. on July 15, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Emil and Luetta (Elliott) Capone. On October 18, 1953, in New Jersey, Kathleen married the late Frederick H. LaTaille, Sr. The couple then moved to Fred's family's dairy farm in Salisbury, VT for a year before relocating to Jamaica, VT. With her husband, Kathleen owned and operated the former Jamaica Hotel for 16 years after which, Kathy and Fred built a new home on Main Street. Never one to sit still, Kathy managed the former Chocolate Barn in Jamaica, then opened a thrift shop with her dear friend Jean Brooks, and for many years she made fudge for several stores and gift shops in the valley. Kathy also loved her gardens and took great pleasure in raising hundreds of flower and vegetable plants from seed each year. Kathleen is survived by: two daughters, Linda (and husband Michael) Antonowicz of Putney and TeriAnn LaTaille of Jamaica; her sister, Rosemary Russell of New Jersey; two special sisters-in-law, Dorothy Capone and Marjorie Capone; and many cherished friends, including Florence Staats of South Newfane and Ginger Magoon of Jamaica. Besides her husband, Kathleen is predeceased by her son, Frederick H. LaTaille, Jr., who died January 4, 2015 and her three brothers, Emil, Alfred and Anthony Capone. In accordance with Kathleen's final wishes, burial in Pleasant View Cemetery in Jamaica will be private. Donations to honor Kathleen's life may be sent to the Grace Cottage Hospital Foundation, P.O.
