1921 - 2015 READSBORO Lavenia (Aubertine) Batchelder Mowe, 93 formerly of 45 Tunnel St. Readsboro, VT died Sunday, June 7, 2015 at Vernon Green Nursing Home in Vernon, VT. She was born in Readsboro, VT on October 1, 1921, daughter of Pearle and Emma (Bouvier) Aubertine. She attended local schools. Lavenia was last employed at Snow Lake Lodge on Mount Snow. Prior to that she worked at Deerfield Glassine, Clark Biscuit, Hunter Outdoor Products, Readsboro Falls Findings, GS Precision, and Vermont Hardwoods. She was a communicant of St. Joachim's Church and was a member of its St. Anne's Society and the Readsboro American Legion Auxiliary. Lavenia was a Girl Scout Troop Leader and worked at the Rocky Mountain Day Camp. She enjoyed dancing, church bazaars, dinners, and reading. She especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was the widow of Louis Lincoln Mowe, who died on November 14, 1994. They were married on September 8, 1948. Survivors include one daughter, Lorrie J. Massari and her husband, Peter of Brattleboro and one son, Frank Batchelder and his wife, Gayle of Clarksburg; and eight grandchildren including: Chris Batchelder, Tammy Weiss, Todd Batch-elder, Carla Batchelder, Frank Batchelder Jr., Kristin Rondeau, Amy Smith and Peter Massari Jr.; 13 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves her brother, Frank Brooks of Wilmington, VT and nieces and nephews. Her son, Randy Batchelder died in 2003 and four sisters and two brothers are deceased including, Evelyn Moran, Irene Pratt, Marion Furlon, Edna Yorke, Albert and Calvin Aubertine. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Lavenia Mowe will be celebrated on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. Joachim's Church in Readsboro, VT. Burial will follow in Southview cemetery.
