Leona M. Wheelock

1934 - 2015 Hinsdale, NH Leona Mae (Jillson) Wheelock, 80, passed away of natural causesafter a brief illnesson Thursday, August 27, 2015. Born on October 29, 1934, in Hanover, NH, she was thedaughter of the late Charles and Louise (Abbott) Jillson. Leona attended Woodstock (Vermont) High School, and loved growing up in nearby Taftsville and Bridgewater. On December 20, 1952, she and Winston Wheelockwere married in Cavendish, VT. They made a home and raised their family on Jackson Hill Road in Chesterfield, NH and lived there for almost 50 years before moving to a new home in Hinsdale, NHin 2005. She had a long career as a nurse's aide at Brattleboro Hospital and later at Maplewood Nursing Home in Westmoreland, NH. Leona was an animal lover and the family always had dogs of every variety as companions, from beagles to Airedales to Yorkshire Terriers, and all manner of lovable mutts. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, andwaspredeceased in 2012by herhusband of 59 years, Winston. She is survived by her son, Gary Wheelock and her daughter-in-law, Karen of Colchester, VT; her daughter, Marcia (Wheelock) Rajala and her son-in-law, Richard of Kennebunk, ME; and her beloved granddaughters, Liisa Rajalaof Manchester, NHand Susanna Rajala of Kennebunk, ME. There will be no visiting hours and the immediate family will hold a private memorial service to honor her wishes.
