Leonard "Alan" Jordan Obituary
Leonard "Alan" Jordan died peacefully at home in Brattleboro on June 9, 2015 at the age of 61.
Alan is survived by his spouse, Ellen Smith of Brattleboro; daughter, Anya Smith-Jordan, of Washington D.C.; and his sister and her husband, Robin and Anthony Henry of Yellow Springs, Ohio.
He was predeceased by his parents, Edgar and Charlotte Jordan also of Yellow Springs, Ohio.
Alan was born on April 4, 1954 in Columbus, Ohio. He was a high school and college athlete, who in his later years enjoyed hiking, camping, mountain biking, and kayaking. He was a lover of barbeque, scotch, great music and cigars who liked nothing better than hanging out on his deck with family and friends. Alan dedicated almost 30 years to the residents of the Brattleboro Retreat as a mental health worker. He took great pride in caring for those in need.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 14 at Hilltop Montessori School, with a celebration of life immediately following. All are welcome to attend and commemorate Alan's life.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Alan's name to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital for the compassionate care provided this past year or to Brattleboro Area Hospice.
