Linda King Obituary
Linda Jean (Tinlin) King

1945 - 2015 Linda King, fabulous cook, gifted artist, and singer passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 20th following a short period of illness. While her passing was quiet, her life was colourful, loud and full of joie de vivre. Born in Oakland, CA in 1945, her family moved to MA before living in the Netherlands during her teenage years. This move influenced her love and knowledge of cooking, languages and travel throughout her too-short life. Linda's kind nature served her well in a variety of careers over her lifetime including social work, catering and teaching. In addition she took pride in raising her daughters and freely gave her time, humour and enthusiasm to countless charities and fundraisers. Her heart was always open to anyone who needed a hug or a shoulder to cry on, and she was an true friend to all - especially those who admired her passion for mastering new cuisines or who shared her penchant for loud rock music. She was a lifelong animal lover and is no doubt delighted to be reunited with her favourite cats. Linda loved the open road and enjoyed visiting family and friends as well as braving any roller coaster she found. She sang her way through life, performing locally and singing in church, and her love of fairy tales and fantasy influenced her many forms of artwork including quilting, doll-making and writing stories for her beloved grandson, Owen. Linda packed a lot of living into every day, whether through her cooking or generosity towards others, and she will forever be missed by her family. She leaves behind daughter, Katharine and fiance, Nick Woodard of Bennington, VT, daughter Posey and husband, Andrew and their children, Charlotte, Verity and Owen of London, England, brother, Billy Tinlin of CA, lots of nieces, nephews and their children, her former husband and friend, Robert King and of course, countless cake pans, which she was forever forgetting to reclaim. SERVICES: A service of remembrance and thanks for Linda will be held Monday, December 28th at 4p.m. at the Guilford Community Church in Guilford, Vermont. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that any donations be made to either the Windham County Humane Society or to .
