1914 - 2015 TOWNSHEND Lucinda Dorcas Fournier, 100, a former resident of Elliot Street and Eaton Avenue in Springfield, VT died peacefully Tuesday evening, March 10, 2015 at Valley Cares where she had been a resident for the past three years. Mrs. Fournier was born in Richford, VT on Sept. 6, 1914 the daughter of Andrew and Ida (LaPlant) McAllister. She was raised and educated in Richford and had attended Richford High School. She was a caring and dedicated licensed nursing assistant employed for several years at the former Waterbury State Hospital. She also worked at the former Cutler's Nursing Home in Springfield. Mrs. Fournier retired in 1979. A devoted homemaker, she was a loving and faithful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose life centered around her family. Of her hobbies and interests she was an avid reader, followed Vermont state politics, enjoyed history, walking, gardening, berry picking, cooking and canning. She also cherished time spend with her family. A devout Catholic, she was a communicant of Saint Michael's Roman Catholic Church and a former parishioner of Saint Mary's Church in Springfield. On Oct. 16, 1939 in Waterbury, VT she was married to Patrick A. Fournier. Her beloved husband of 50 years predeceased her on April 10, 1990. Survivors include five daughters, Jeanne Bristol and husband, Donald of Dummerston, Mary Bart of Bow, N.H., Nancy Fournier and her husband, Michael Langman of Putney, Catherine Fournier and her husband, Richard Chapin of Guilford, Lucinda Scott and husband, William of North Springfield, five sons, Patrick Fournier and wife, Jane of Casper, WY, David Fournier and wife, Nonie of Dummerston, Stephen Fournier of Mills, WY, Thomas Fournier of Springfield, VT and Bernard Fournier and his wife, Cecile of Saxtons River. Additionally she leaves a special sister-in-law, Winifred McAllister of FL, 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was predeceased by one son, Joseph Henry Fournier who died in childhood, a special son-in-law, George Bart and four sisters and one brother. FUNERAL NOTICE: The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Saint Michael's Catholic Church with Fr. James Dodson, pastor, celebrant. Committal Rites and burial in Saint Mary's Cemetery in Springfield, VT will be held in the springtime when the cemetery reopens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mrs. Fournier's name may be made to, Valley Cares, Inc., P.O. Box 341, Townshend, VT 05353.
