1926 - 2016 Margaret "Peg" Sievers, 90 , of Newfane, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on March 26, 2016, at Middlesex Memorial Hospital in Middletown, CT. She was predeceased in death by her husband Albert (Al) of 64 years. She was born in Princes Bay, Staten Island, NY on February 8, 1926 to Harry and Margaret (Bruce) Corbett. Peg and Al attended Tottenville (NY) High School together, and after Al returned from WW2 having served aboard the aircraft carrier Wasp in the Pacific Theater, they were married in a snowstorm on her birthday on February 8, 1947, at her home in Princes Bay. They moved to Troy, NY where Al completed his undergraduate studies at RPI, then, after a brief time in Newton, NJ, they moved to Cromwell, CT in 1952, and then to Powerhouse Road in Moodus, CT in 1957 where they raised their family and resided for the rest of their lives. Peg and Al were avid outdoors people and canoed the length of the CT River, enjoyed cross country skiing at Grafton Pond in Grafton VT, and fly fishing, especially at Sunset Pond in VT and Kidney Pond Camps in Baxter State Park in ME. For over 40 years they could be found every weekend enjoying the good life at their "little house" in Newfane, VT. She is survived by her son Bruce and his wife Nikitoula Menounos of Lebanon, CT. and her daughter Christie Legnani of Moodus, CT. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren Jeremiah Sievers and his wife Becky (Biegen) of Glastonbury, CT, Samantha Sievers of Warwick, RI, and Bryan Kane of Ipswich, MA., her 7 week old great?grandson Nathan Robert Sievers of Glastonbury, CT and sister?in?law Joan (Sievers) Clifton of Cocoa Beach, FL. The family extends their gratitude to good friends Greg and Valerie Miller and Natalie and Brian Donovan for keeping watch over Mom after Dad's passing. A private graveside ceremony of Peg's life will be held by the family.
