MIDDLETOWN, CT Marjorie Ann (Farrands) Crowell-Murphy, 89, wife of the late Richard J. Crowell/Joseph Murphy died Friday, November 27, 2015. Marjorie was born in Rockville the daughter of the late Richard H. and Margaret A. (Tobin) Farrands. An avid singer, Marge sang with the minstrels at St. Francis and St. Sebastian churches in the 1940's. In the early 1970's she was heavily involved with the Cromwell Grenadiers Fife and Drum Corps. Prior to her retirement Marge was employed as a banker with Hartford National Bank in Middletown, CT and 1st Vermont Bank in Brattleboro, VT. Marge was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and an Auxiliary Past-President for the American Legion Southern District of VT. She also sang the National Anthem at numerous American Legion baseball games in VT and was also a member of the Middletuners Choir of Middletown, CT. Marjorie is survived by a daughter, Loreen Miller and her husband, George of Cromwell, a sister, Maureen Romano, grandson, Peter Niesyn and his wife, Sandra, all from Middletown, grandson, Ryan Niesyn and wife, Michelle L. of Tolland, a great-granddaughter, Alyssa Niesyn, and two step-granddaughters, Jamilee and Felicity Niesyn. She was predeceased by a son, James Richard Crowell, her first husband, Richard J. Crowell, her second husband, Joseph Murphy, daughter, Lynn E. Barnes and a brother-in-law, Joseph Romano. FUNERAL NOTICE: A funeral liturgy will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 3rd at Saint Francis of Assisi Church, Elm Street, Middletown. Friends may call prior to the services from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver Street Middletown. Burial will be held in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Middletown.
