Marjorie Alice Dunham

1916-2016 Brattleboro Marjorie Alice, "Midge" Dunham formerly of North Street and a lifelong resident of town passed away peacefully Thursday evening, September 29, 2016 at the Thompson House Nursing Home, she was 100 years old. Mrs. Dunham was born in Brattleboro on April 24, 1916 the daughter of Guy and Katherine (Clune) Jones. She was raised in the Esteyville section of Brattleboro attending Saint Michael's Parochial School later graduating from Saint Michael's High School, Class of 1934. She had been employed as night supervisor at the Austine School where she retired from in 1989. She also worked for the former Maple Farms Dairy. Grants Department Store, the Holstein-Frisian Association and was employed by the town of Brattleboro as a night dispatcher for the police department. Active civically, Mrs. Dunham was a volunteer for R.S.V.P, the Brattleboro Senior Center, volunteered for Southern Vermont Home Health Agency and the Brattleboro Chamber of Commerce. A devout Catholic she was a lifelong communicant of Saint Michael's Roman Catholic Church. She was very proud of her Irish heritage. Mrs. Dunham was profiled in a special feature story published in the Brattleboro Reformer at the time she became a centenarian. The article was published in the Saturday April 30th edition of the Reformer. Survivors include one daughter, Janet Taylor of Hollis, New Hampshire, one son, Gary Dunham of Anderson, South Carolina, three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one nephew. She also leaves her extended family at the Thompson House. She was predeceased by one daughter, Carol Ann, two brothers, Paul and Richard Jones, and two sisters, Jesse Cummings and Evelyn Jones. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, October 14th at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Michael's Catholic Church with Fr. Justin Baker, pastor, celebrant. Committal Rites and burial will follow in Saint Michael's Parish Cemetery. Memorial contributions in her name made be made to Saint Michael's School, 47 Walnut Street, Brattleboro, VT 05301, in care of Elaine Beam, principal.
