Marjorie Keehn Prouty was born July 14, 1923 and passed away peacefully at Grace Cottage Hospital, Townshend Vermont on November 1st, 2016.

Marjorie graduated from Mount Vernon seminary in Washington, D.C as well as Maryland University She attended the Art Institute of Chicago and graduated from Chicago Academy of Fine Arts. In 1950 she graduated from the Beau Art School at Fountain Bleu in France.

Upon returning to the states Marjorie worked for Watson and Boaler, a design firm in Chicago and also with House Beautiful Magazine before marrying Elisha Prouty in 1955.

Marge and Eli lived in Pelham, N.Y. and Winnetka, Ill. Before coming back to Eli's home state of Vermont in 1985. They fell in love with Grafton and both became very active in the community; Eli as president and later curator of the Historical Museum and Marge as a volunteer at the library for 30 years, which she adored, along with spirited games of Bridge and Scrabble. They ran the beloved Eagle Brook Bed and Breakfast in Grafton for many years and were very gracious hosts to their guests. Marge will be remembered for her warmth, kindness and adventurous spirit. She was a loving mother and grand mother and will be missed immensely by all.

She was predeceased by Eli in November, 2014 as well as her parents and brother.

She is lovingly survived by her daughter Pamela, son Bruce and his wife Rose, son Peter and his wife Darcy and three grandchildren Robert, Grant and Sarah.

The family would like to extend their special thanks to Dr. Geurts and the staff at Grace Cottage Hospital. At Marge's request there will be no formal funeral service. If friends desire, memorial gifts may be made in her name to Grace Cottage Hospital or the Grafton Library.
