Nelson D. Blouin 1938 - 2011 BRATTLEBORO Nelson David Blouin, 72, of Brattleboro, died Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, in Lebanon, N.H. Born on July 9, 1938, in Hinsdale, N.H., the son of Marshall and Beatrice Bourgeois Blouin, he was born and raised there, graduating from Hinsdale High School with the class of 1957. Nelson met Carolee Gouger and they were married at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church on September 10, 1960. They spent the next 50 years happily married. Nelson was a lifetime member of the Elks and a Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed the 18 years he spent as a young man as member of the Brattleboro Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Blouin held many different jobs, including salesman for both Michelman's Clothing and Hinsdale Raceway. Nelson was owner/operator of Central Grocery, a neighborhood grocery store for eight years, but found his true calling most recently working for Max E. Carr Funeral Home, where he was able to meet many new and old friends. Nelson D. Blouin leaves his wife, Carolee Blouin of Brattleboro; a daughter, Pam Blouin, and her companion, Brian Walker of Hinsdale; a son, Jon Blouin and his wife, Melissa of Hinsdale, and one granddaughter, Kaitlyn Blouin, who was her Pepere's pride and joy. He also leaves his brother, Henry Blouin, and two sisters, Theresa Blouin and Mary Ann Jacques, all of Winchester, N.H., and many nieces, nephews and godchildren. He was predeceased by three brothers, Napoleon Blouin, Marshall Blouin Jr., Robert Blouin, and by a sister, Alice Hudon. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 10, 2011, at 10 a.m. at the St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church of Brattleboro, with Fr. Rich O'Donnell officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Michael Catholic Cemetery. Calling hours will be today, Thursday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at KER WESTERLUND FUNERAL HOME, 57 High Street, Brattleboro, VT 05301.
