Philip T. Kempf

1934-2013 WEST CHESTERFIELD, N.H. - Philip T. Kempf, 78, of Sargent Hill Road died Monday morning, September 2, 2013 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. A kind and well respected man, he was born in Brattleboro on October 20, 1934 the son of Jacob and Mary (Wojchick) Kempf. He was a graduate of Brattleboro Union High School during which time he was an outstanding-star Athlete excelling in baseball and football. He proudly served his nation as a medical specialist in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. A welder by trade, Mr. Kempf was a 45 year member of the Plumbing and Pipefitters Union, Local #105. An avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at his hunting camp in Cavendish, VT. He also enjoyed sports and was an avid Boston Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics and New England Patriots fan. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Hilda (Murray) Kempf of West Chesterfield, three sons, Philip Kempf II and his wife Barbara of Brattleboro, Lawrence Kemp of Cavendish and Alfred Kempf of West Chesterfield, one daughter, Cathy (Kempf) Barrows and her husband Craig of West Chesterfield, two brothers, Jacob and Henry Kempf both of Brattleboro. Additionally he leaves four grandsons, Christopher Kempf, James Kempf, Jason Barrows and Jesse Kempf, two granddaughters, Megan Barrows and Kimberly Kempf, and two great grandsons, Bryce Whitten and Hunter Kempf. He was predeceased by two brothers, William and Alfred Kempf and a step brother Joseph Pela. In accordance with Mr. Kempf's final wishes graveside committal services in Morningside Cemetery will be private for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Mr. Kempf's name may be made to the Chesterfield Vol. Fire Dept. P.O. Box 95 Chesterfield, N.H. 03443.
