Phyllis H. Castle Krisher Obituary
Brattleboro - Phyllis Krisher of Brattleboro passed away peacefully on July 21, 2017 after a lengthy illness.

Phyllis was born at home in Jamaica, Vermont on November 11, 1930 (accompanied by her twin brother, Phillip), and was the daughter of Emma Irene (Crowninshield) Castle and John Louis Castle. Phyllis attended grade schools in Jamaica and Brookline, and graduated from Leland and Gray Seminary in 1948 where she was an outstanding and aggressive member of the women's basketball team.

After graduation, Phyllis worked at Townshend Furniture and at the Mary Meyer Factory. On June 6, 1950, she married Gene C. Krisher, Sgt. USAF in Garden City, NY. They settled in Brattleboro in 1952.

Phyllis was a homemaker, mother, lunch room worker at Academy School, and 25 year employee at New England Tel &Tel. Phyllis and Gene were also 60 year members of First Congregational Church in W. Brattleboro where Phyllis participated in many activities including church suppers and rummage sales. In her retirement years, Phyllis enjoyed spending time at the family camp in Holland, VT, wintering in Florida, and visiting National Parks across the USA.

Phyllis is survived by her husband of 67 years, Gene C. Krisher of Brattleboro; daughter Karleen Ruth Hayden (John) of E. Greenbush, NY and son John Roland Krisher of Putney, VT. She is survived by 5 grandchildren, Colleen Marion O'Neil (Trevor) of E. Greenbush, NY, Annie Hayden Harwood (David) of N. Greenbush, NY, Katie Hayden Bookser (Mike) of Greenwich, CT, Benjamin Castle Krisher of Anchorage, Alaska, and Karin Genevieve Krisher of Burlington, VT. Also survived by great-grandchildren Henry Hayden O'Neil, Evelyn Rose O'Neil and Cora Marion Harwood. She is also survived by special friend and brother-in- law Alfred LaRosa of Keene, NH.

She was predeceased by her parents, John and Emma Castle, sisters Marion Castle Thomas and Marguerite Annie LaRosa, and by twin brother Phillip Alfred Castle.

The Krisher family would like to extend a special thank you to the Third Floor nurses and staff of Pine Heights, Bayada Home Health and Hospice, and Brattleboro Hospice for their kindness and compassion.

SERVICES: Donations in Phyllis's memory may be made to Brattleboro Area Hospice, 191 Canal Street, Brattleboro, VT 05301.

Services will be private (Pleasant View Cemetery, Jamaica, VT) at the convenience of the family.
