1926 - 2016 Rahat Afza Morad (Apa) passed away in Montreal August 14 2016 . She was born March 5, 1926 in Lahore to Noor Muhammad and wife Iqbal Begum, the seventh of 8 surviving children. At age 16 she married Abul Mujahid Morad (Bapu), South Asia's aviation pioneer and a senior Railways executive. They lead a wonderful and exciting life in India, Pakistan, England and North America. Apa was beautiful, graceful, elegant, compassionate and fearless. Born to a conservative Punjabi family she carried herself with immense dignity in the modern social milieu of Pakistan, England and North America. She was truly an enthusiastic and a perfect representative of that young and vital Pakistan in every way. She influenced generations of women with her style and commitment,, supporting social initiatives and schooling for young women. Apa was the mother of Omer Morad, married to Tehzib Hussain, Osman Morad married to Nuzhat (Nazi) Majid and Yasmeen (Maina) married to Javed Chaudhri. She was the last of her generation and leaves behind grandchildren Tariq married to Kim LaBarre, Taimur and Tahir Chaudhri; Kamila, Sikandar and Aella Morad of Montreal; Dina Morad of Ankara; Bushra and, husband Rocky Khanna and children Abraham and Illyana and Heeba Shah of Mumbai. She was much loved by her family, her friends and all who met her. Sunday September 11 at 11AM there will be a short prayer for her at 32 White Birch Avenue in Brattleboro, VT. In lieu of flowers donations may be given to The Brattleboro Walk In Clinic,81 Belmont Ave, Brattleboro, VT 05301, who treated her gently with kindness.
