Raymond M. Barnes Obituary
Raymond M. Barnes, 75, of Mt. Hermon Station Rd., died Thursday morning (10-05-2017) at Baystate Franklin Medical Center, Greenfield, after a brief illness.

He was born in Greenfield, MA on May 16, 1942, the son of Gerald and Erna (Bruhm) Barnes. Ray was educated in Gill and Northfield schools and was a 1959 graduate of Pioneer Valley Regional School.

Early in life he was a trainer and driver of Harness Horses, and was member of the Harness Horse Hall of Fame. He worked for many years at Vermont Yankee in Vernon, VT and then became a burner technician for A.R. Sandri Co. in Greenfield, MA, from where he retired.

As a young man he enjoyed snowmobile racing with his brother Robert. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed frequent trips to Foxwood Casino. He is survived by his wife, the former Patti Jean Parenchuck, and his children: Jason of Langdon, NH and Jamie Barnes and her companion Timothy O'Shea of Northfield, MA. He is also survived by his brother Richard Barnes and his wife Judy of Hinsdale, NH and grandchildren: Raegan and Kennedi Barnes, and neices and nephews: Brett Barnes, Erik Barnes, Lauren Barnes, Alexa Barnes, and Jackson Barnes.

SERVICES: There will be calling hours on Monday (10-09-2017) from 5-7 P.M. at the Kidder Funeral Home, 1 Parker Ave. Northfield, MA. Private graveside services at West Northfield Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Bruce Burks, Pastor of the Advent Christian Church, Vernon, VT will officiate.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Northfield VFW Post 9874, 545 Mt. Hermon Station Rd. Northfield, MA 01360.
