Richard C. Waite Obituary
Richard Craig Waite, 67, of Springfield, MO, formerly of Brattleboro, VT, passed away Thursday morning, November 17, 2016 at Mercy Hospital Springfield, surrounded by his loving family.

Richard was born on July 15, 1949 in Brattleboro, VT. He attended Brattleboro schools, graduating from Brattleboro Union High School in 1967.

He then served in the US Army 1st Infantry Division in Vietnam from February 1968 with an Honorable Discharge in September 1969. During his tour in Vietnam, he was promoted to SGT. and awarded The Bronze Star, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Combat Infantry Badge, The Vietnam Campaign Medal, The National Defense Service Medal and two Overseas Service Bars.

Richard will be greatly missed by his loving family and all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.Richard enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling with his wife, and political and military discussions. He was an avid reader and had a love for animals, rescuing many. Richard also enjoyed flying and in earlier years, obtained his private pilot's license.

Richard is survived by his loving wife Nancy (Adams) Waite, of Springfield,MO; his daughter, Brooke Bain and her husband Tim, of Brighton, MO; a sister, Doris Snide, of S. Deerfield, MA; a brother, Robert Waite Jr. of Keene, NH; a brother, David Waite, of Springfield, MO; and grandchildren, Caleb Burt and his wife Bailey, of Pleasant Hope, MO; Tayllor Burt, Morrgan Burt, and Brennan Bain, of Brighton, MO; a great granddaughter, Marley Burt; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.He was preceded in death by his mother, Katherine (Cavanaugh) Waite and father, Robert Waite Sr. of Brattleboro, VT. and also by aunts, uncles and two nephews.

SERVICES: A Funeral service and visitation was held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, 3506 N. National, Springfield, MO. 65803. A Graveside service with full military honors was at 1:00 p.m. at The Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, in Springfield, MO.
