Rose Marie (Ree) O'Connell Connell

1926 - 2015 NEWFANE VT. Rose Marie (Ree) O'Connell Connell (88) was born Mar. 4, 1926 in Springfield, Mass. On Feb. 11, she died peacefully at home in her own bed with her son, George and his spouse, Thad by her side. She met the love of her life, Jack Connell, at a USO dance at Westover Air Base in Chicopee Falls, Mass. They were married at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Springfield, Mass. on May 4,1946 and spent a wonderful 67 years together. Ree raised four great children in Springfield and also worked as a Teacher's Aide for the Springfield School system for 20 years. In 1989 she and Jack moved to Dunedin, Fla. where they made many wonderful friends. In July 2013, Jack started to have health problems and they moved to live with their son, George, and his spouse in Newfane, Vt. Their new home provided great care, a wonderful view and six wonderful months together until Jack's death on January 27, 2014. She leaves her beloved family, a daughter, Susan Bachmann of Lunenburg, Mass. and her companion, Kris Hansen; a son, Bruce of Sante Fe, N.M. and his wife, Jinx; a son, John G. of Shelton, Wash.; and a son, George of Newfane, Vt. and his spouse, Thad Bennett; two granddaughters, Jennifer Gemme and husband, Rich, and Erin Boudreau and husband, Tom; three great grandsons, Riley, Andrew, and Jack; a sister-in-law, Anne of Scottsdale, Ariz., and widow of Jack Egan; a brother-in-law, Alan and wife, Phyllis, of Del.; a niece Kathy Dinan; as well as many other nieces and nephews and their children. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Florence O'Connell; and her sisters, Florence O'Connell and Lillian Constine, wife of Clesson. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Celebration of Life for Ree will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers please make donations in thanksgiving for their wonderful care, especially from Abbi and Stacy, to VNA and Hospice for Vermont and New Hampshire, P.O. Box 976, White River Junction, VT 05001-0976. A Mass of Remembrance and burial will be at the discretion of the family.
