1953 - 2015 BRATTLEBORO Stanley William "Stasu" Aleksiewicz, 61, of Oak Grove Avenue, a lifelong resident of town, died Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon following a period of declining health. Stanley was born in Brattleboro on December 26, 1953, the son of Joseph and Sophie (Jasienowski) Aleksiewicz. He attended Saint Michael's Parochial School and was a graduate of Brattleboro Union High School, Class of 1971. He went on to attend the University of Vermont in Burlington. Most recently he had been employed at G.S. Precision in Brattleboro. Previously he worked as a parts manager for Tri-State Automotive and at the Vermont State Liquor Store in Brattleboro. For many years he was active with the Brattleboro Little League Program volunteering as an umpire. Prior to obtaining his umpire's license he received his training in Williamsport, PA. Stanley was a communicant of Saint Michael's Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the B.P.O. Elks, Brattleboro Lodge #1499. He enjoyed billiards and was active in several greater Brattleboro area leagues. Of his other pastimes, he enjoyed playing cards and was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. On November 20, 1976 at Saint Michael's Catholic Church he was married to Nancy Christmas. The marriage later ended but the couple remained close friends. Survivors include two sons, Lance Aleksiewicz of Harrisville, R.I. and Daryl Aleksiewicz of Swanzey, N.H.; one brother, Peter Aleksiewicz of Woodberry Forest, VA; two granddaughters, Grace and Anna Aleksiewicz and many nieces, nephews and cousins. FUNERAL NOTICE: The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at Saint Michael's Catholic Church with Fr. James Dodson, pastor, celebrant. Committal Rites and burial will follow in Saint Michael's Parish Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the Atamaniuk Funeral Home on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. Memorial contributions in Stanley's name may be made to the Brattleboro Little League Program, in care of The American Legion Brattleboro Post #5, 32 Linden Street, Brattleboro, VT 05301.
