Steven John Bobrowski Sr.

1925 - 2016 BELLOWS FALLS, VT Steven John Bobrowski, Sr., "Stash", 90, of Blake Street died Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Westwood Center in Keene, NH after a long illness. Mr. Bobrowski was born in Bellows Falls on May 4, 1925, the son of Poland natives Walenty and Eva (Nizik) Bobrowski, and was baptized at Sacred Heart Church. He attended St. Charles School, was a 1943 graduate of Bellows Falls High School, and worked as meat manager at the A&P First National Grocery Stores. He also served in the US Navy during World War II. After retiring from the First National in 1977, he worked many Sunday mornings at the family business, Nick's Cafe. In his earlier years he enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a very good bowler. Stash enjoyed watching sports and spent many winters with his brother, Tony, down at the "Ponderosa" in Florida. Mr. Bobrowski spent his life taking care of his youngest daughter, Susie, with whom he shared his home. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and St. Charles Church. He was a member of the American Legion, the Polish American Club, and the Knights of Columbus. He also served on the Board of Rockingham Charities and was a great supporter of many charitable organizations. On May 14, 1949 at St. Charles Church he married Nelora Lickley. He is survived by his son Steven J. Bobrowski, Jr.; his daughters, Ellen Podgurski & husband, Edward, Maryann Lisai, Jane Ryan & husband, Wayne, and Susan Bobrowski; his sister, Mary Smith; his grandchildren, Heather Boulger & husband, Shawn, Benjamin Lisai, Andrew Lisai, Allyson Lisai, Jessie Ryan, and Jason Ryan; his great-grandchildren, Ryan, Jack, Mathew, and Cullan; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife, Nelora Bobrowski, his parents, his brothers, Leon, Anthony, and Joseph Bobrowski, and his sister, Laura Lawlor. FUNERAL NOTICE: A funeral mass will be celebrated 11a.m. Wednesday, February 3rd at St. Charles Church with burial to follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are in the care of Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home.
