1980 - 2015 BRATTLEBORO Sultan Saleh Rashed, 35, of Guilford Street died unexpectedly Monday, November 9, 2015 in Brattleboro. Sultan was born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on September 18, 1980, the son of Saleh and Izdihar (Alawi) Rashed. He was raised and attended school in Jordan before coming to the United States at the age of 16. He continued his education in Brattleboro where he attended Brattleboro Union High School. Sultan had been employed as a foreman for the Lane Construction Company based in Westfield, MA and was a member of the Local #999 Union. He also volunteered at his brother's family business, Rashed's Garden Center on Marlboro Road. A faithful and devoted husband and loving father, his family meant the world to him. He especially cherished time spent with his son making weekly trips to an indoor waterpark in White River Jct. where he enjoyed swimming with his boy. He was known for being a hard worker with an excellent work ethic. Sultan will be remembered for his easy going nature spirit of friendship and his contagious smile. Of his other leisure time activities, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, and was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. He married the love of his life, Sheena Randall who he had been with for 16 years, on June 10, 2004 they married in Brattleboro. The couple renewed their vows at the Carl M. Dessaint VFW in Brattleboro on July 16, 2005. Besides his beloved wife he leaves his precious son, Mazin, at home, two brothers, Ahmad Rashed of Brattleboro and Mohmmad Rashed of Toledo, OH, two sisters, Mona Rashed of Saudi Arabia and Maram Rashed of Toledo, his mother-in-law, Pamela Randall of Brattleboro who was more like a mother to him, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Additionally he leaves several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Saleh and Izdihar Rashed and a brother, Khalid Rashed. SERVICES: A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, beginning at 5p.m. at the V.F.W. Post #1034 on Black Mountain Road. Burial will take place in Meetinghouse Hill Cemetery and will be private for the family only. Friends are invited to call at the Atamaniuk Funeral Home this evening (Friday) from 6 to 9p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Sultan's name may be made to a special trust established for his son, The Mazin Rashed Fund, in care of People's United Bank, 479 Canal Street, Brattleboro, VT 05301.
