Vera F. Trottier Obituary
Vera F. Trottier died on March 20, 2016 at the age of 90 at her home in Fair Haven, VT. In her final years, she struggled with Alzheimer's disease, while remaining loving, friendly, and quick-witted. She was born in Tunbridge, VT, daughter of Edward R. Flint and Alice E. Dickerman Flint, on October 24, 1925. Vera was a 1944 graduate of South Royalton High School. On July 1, 1944 Vera married Philip Trottier in South Royalton.VT They made their home there until 1956 when Phil's work transferred him to Claremont, NH and later onto Brattleboro, VT. In 2000 they moved to Wilder, VT to live with their son, Brian and recently moved to Fair Haven, VT to live with their daughter, Teresa. While living in Brattleboro, Vera managed the Deli at the Super Duper Store, worked for Sears and was a secretary in the office of the Dunham Shoe Company. Upon retiring, she found a passion for painting. Vera's beautiful art work now graces numerous homes in many states and countries. She was especially proud of her Vermont heritage and the fact that her father established the antique exhibits at Tunbridge World's Fair. Vera was active in the Vermont Extension Service Home Demonstration Club. In 1994 the Extension Service honored her for her fifty years of active membership. For thirty-six years Phil and Vera spent winters in Ocala and later Largo, FL. Vera was active on many committees in their retirement park. Neighbors quickly became an extended family as they shared meals, played cards and enjoyed many other activities together. She enjoyed her family, homes, painting and gardens. Vera often reflected fondly on the joys of raising her children, her love of the arts, and her everlasting love for her husband, with whom she enjoyed 71 years of marriage. Vera will be deeply missed, but found in the beauty and kindness that continues to envelop those she left behind. Survivors include her husband, Philip of Fair Haven, VT, son Brian (and spouse Patricia) of Wilder, VT and daughter Teresa T. Fisher of Fair Haven, VT, three granddaughters Sara Trottier Rice of White River Jct., VT, Abby Trottier Spina of White River Jct., VT and Colby Fisher Gray of South Hadley, MA, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, two brothers Neal Flint and Stanley Flint and sister Irene Dubanevich. The funeral service will be held at 11 am on April 2, 2016 at West Lebanon Congregational Church, 18 Maple Street West Lebanon, NH with receiving line and reception to follow. Condolences may be made to Vera's family in an online guestbook at www.knightfuneralhomes.com. Donations in her memory may be made to Fair Haven Concerned, 73 Main Street, Fair Haven, VT 05743.
