1950 - 2014 BRATTLEBORO Rebecca A. "Becky" Butler, 63, of Edward Heights, died early Thursday morning, June 5, 2014, at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital following a period of declining health. Becky was born in Middletown Springs, Vt. on June 26, 1950, the daughter of John and Ellen Austin Moyer. She was raised and educated in Middletown Springs graduating from Poultney High School, Class of 1969. A resident of Brattleboro for the past 45 years, she was a former resident of Woodstock, Vt. For several years, Becky managed the Coffee Shop at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital. Previously, she waitressed at several Brattleboro area restaurants that included Friendly's, the former Big Boy Restaurant on Putney Road, and at the Latchis Hotel. She loved animals and, for many years, was an active volunteer at the Windham County Humane Society. Becky also volunteered at Experienced Goods Thrift Shop in Brattleboro. Of her pastimes and interests, she enjoyed flowers, gardening, cross stitch, and time spent with her family. On Aug. 30, 1969, at Saint Ann's Church in Middletown Springs she was married to Richard B. Butler, who survives. Besides her faithful and devoted husband of 44 years, she leaves one son, Matthew Butler and his fiancee, Sadie Stone, of Fitzwilliam, N.H.; a grandson, Kayden Duchano of Merrimack, N.H.; three brothers, Douglas Moyer and his wife, Phyllis, of Chesterfield, Larry Moyer, and Glenn Moyer and wife, Deanne, all of Middletown Springs; two sisters, Nancy Edmunds and husband, Chris, of Middletown Springs and Marie of Rutland. She was predeceased by her father and her son, Patrick, who passed away on May 22, 2014. FUNERAL NOTICE: The Liturgy of the Word will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Saint Michael's Roman Catholic Church with Fr. James Dodson, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Meetinghouse Hill Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her son. Friends are invited to call at the Atamaniuk Funeral Home Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. until the start of the services.
