Ruth Agnes Fisher

1926 - 2014 HINSDALE, N.H. Ruth Agnes Fisher, 88, of Plain Road, died peacefully Wednesday afternoon, July 23, 2014, at her home following a period of declining health. Mrs. Fisher was born in Brattleboro on March 15, 1926, the daughter of Wilmer and Eva (Barcomb) Baker. She was raised in Brattleboro and attended Saint Michael's Parochial School. She had lived in Vernon, Brattleboro and in Munson, Mass., moving back to the area to make her home with her daughter in Hinsdale in 2003. Mrs. Fisher was employed as an occupational therapist at the Brattleboro Retreat and had also worked as assistant dietitian at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital. While residing in Munson (1965-2003), she had worked for the Sanderson-McCloud Company. In her earlier years, she had worked at the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Associates on Cotton Mill Hill in Brattleboro. A lifelong Catholic, Mrs. Fisher was a communicant of Saint Michael's Roman Catholic Church. She enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles, gardening, cooking and arts and crafts. She especially enjoyed time shared with her family. On June 22, 1946, at First Baptist Church in Brattleboro, she was married to Roland H. Fisher. Her husband of 63 years predeceased her on Jan. 3, 2010. Survivors include two daughters, Rose Ann Stephens of Hinsdale and Linda Merriman of Springfield, Vt.; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Kimberly Stephens, and by a sister, Lilly Mleczko. FUNERAL NOTICE: The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Saint Michael's Catholic Church with Fr. James Dodson, pastor, as celebrant. Committal Rites and burial will follow in Saint Michael's Parish Cemetery.
