Mrs. Pfenning was so pleasant and sweet. No wonder the kids all loved her at Vernon Elementary. My daughters have fond memories of her. She never seemed to lose patience. I trust that memories of happy days will be a comfort to each of you.

I am holding you all gently in my heart at this difficult time. I can still see Joyce's smile in my mind's eye. It's not difficult to remember because she wore that smile all day at school, no matter how challenging a day it was. Such a lovely woman. One who will be sincerely missed...

"Thank you Mrs. Pfenning" -- those were the best words to hear when growing up in Vernon and you thought you might have a no school/snow day. When the phone rang, and my Mom or Dad said "thank you Mrs. Pfenning", we knew we were off! I have such fond memories of Mrs. Pfenning at Vernon Elementary, too. It makes me happy to associate those memories with her -- it sure takes me back. My prayers go out to you Gay, Cheryl, Mr. P and family.
Mrs. Pfenning was the best.

"Thank you Mrs Pfenning". Those were my favorite words growing up in Vernon during the winter, back when Mrs P. used to call the homes of Vernon Elementary students to let them know school was closed due to snow. So, when I heard my Dad say "thank you Mrs. Pfenning", I knew we were free for the day! I can't think of a nicer way to remember such a warm, friendly person. Thinking of you, Gay, Cheryl, Mr. P and family and will pray for you all. My very best,
Gene & Joan Morse
