Bridget O'Brien Reynolds 1928-2011 BELLOWS FALLS Bridget O'Brien Reynolds, of Bellows Falls, died on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011 at Springfield Hospital following a brief illness. She was 83. Reynolds was born on July 14, 1928 in Youghal, Ireland, one of ten children to Nancy and Edmund O'Brien. As a young woman, she emigrated to London, England, where she met her husband Arthur John Reynolds and had three children, Sheelagh, Oona and John. In 1958 the family moved to New York and Reynolds had two more children, Kevin and Patrick. Reynolds worked for a time as a waitress on Long Island before becoming a restaurateur. For years, she ran the Osbourne Inn and the Oakwood Inn, two popular pubs and restaurants of her own. In 1998, she moved to Bellows Falls to help her daughter open Oona's Restaurant, which became a popular gathering place for the community. In the years since Oona's closed, Reynolds was active with Westminster Cares and enjoyed spending time with friends, visiting the farmer's market and traveling. Reynolds leaves behind two daughters, Oona Madden of Bellows Falls and Sheelagh Riekena of Pacific Grove, Calif.; two sons, Kevin Reynolds of Melbourne, Fla., and Patrick Reynolds of Los Angeles, Calif.; grandchildren, Nicholas and Benjamin Gregory, both of Bellows Falls, Darry Madden of Cambridge, Mass., Liam Madden, of Boston, Mass., Abbi Reynolds, New York and Sean Reynolds of Nevada.; as well as many friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her husband John, who died in 1979 and her son John who died 2002. FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 9 at 10 a.m. at the United Church in Bellows Falls, VT. A reception will follow.
