Dorothy E. Martino 1921 - 2012 KEENE, NH (Dorothea) Dorothy Elizabeth Martino, 90, died peacefully, surrounded by her family at her home late Friday afternoon, March 30, 2012. She was born on Sept. 5, 1921, in Easthampton, MA, the first born of five children to the late Edward and Grace (Rivers) Burdo. Dorothy married Pasquale Martino, Sr. on Jan. 15, 1940. They made their home in Brattleboro, VT where they raised their seven children. Dorothy worked for many years at J.E. Mann's. She enjoyed volunteer work and volunteered for Community Chest and also for the Winter Carnival Fashion Shows. She was also a member of Church Women's United and the Daughters of Isabelle #128. Dorothy worked for St. Michael's Church since she was 17 years old. Her interests were travel, reading, gardening and decorating. The most important thing in her life was spending time with her family and friends. She was truly gifted and had the ability to bring comfort to all. She is survived by her seven children and their spouses: Barbara and Kenneth Smith, Sr. of Claremont, NH, Karen and George T. Golden of Brattleboro, VT, Pasquale Jr. and Sandra Martino of San Antonio, TX, Donna and Van Matthews of Keene, NH, Michael and Vicki Martino of Rancho Santa Fe, CA, Christine Young and fiance, Nick Taaffe, of Stoddard, NH, Joseph and Daphne Martino of San Clemente, CA; one sister, Joyce (Burdo) Pataccoli of East Rochester, NY; 20 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Pasquale Martino, Sr. on Feb. 1, 1986, an infant grandson and an infant granddaughter, and three sisters and their spouses, Marion (Burdo) and Donald Brainerd of NY, Hilda (Burdo) and Richard Walsh of Greenfield, MA, and Rita (Burdo) and Edward Pickering of Brattleboro, VT. FUNERAL NOTICE: The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Brattleboro with the Very Rev. Richard O'Donnell, V.F., pastor, celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Parish Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to calling hours at ATAMANIUK FUNERAL HOME on Terrace Street in Brattleboro on Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 P.M.
