Richard T. Flynn

1928 - 2012 NEWFANE, VT Richard T. Flynn, "Dick," of Newfane Hill passed away after a period of declining health on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012.

He was born March 12, 1928, in New York, N.Y., son of Thomas and Jessie (Alberts) Flynn. He was educated in Westfield school systems in Westfield, N.J. Richard enlisted in the Navy on his 17th birthday. He served his country in the Pacific Theatre on the Aircraft Carrier USS Philippine Sea. Upon his return, he attended Art Students League in New York City. He was then hired by Deluxe Printers Art Dept. in New Jersey where he designed bank checks for 18 years. Richard and his family moved to Newfane permanently and opened Flynn's Signs out of his studio. He married Joan "Kares" on June 18, 1948.

He was a former member of the American Legion. He was also a Shriner and Mason for 50 years. Richard was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his family. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing.

Richard is survived by his two sons, Tim Flynn and his wife Bobi and Patrick Flynn and his wife Joan; four grandchildren, Kristina Wright, Abigail Eldridge, Michael Flynn and Molly Underwood; three great-granddaughters, Ruth and Grace Wright and Addison Eldridge.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Judith Russell, and his wife, Joan.

MEMORIAL NOTICE: A celebration of life will be held on Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at the Newbrook Fire Dept. in Newfane, VT from 4-7 p.m. Private interment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Cottage Hospital, C/O Dr. Backus, P.O. Box 216 Townshend, VT 05353

Arrangements are under the care of the WHITE FUNERAL CHAPEL AND CREMATION SERVICE, Townshend.
