1948-2012 BRATTLEBORO Constance F. "Connie" Covey, 64 of Covey Road died early Wednesday morning, October 31, 2012 at Maplewood Nursing Home in Westmoreland following a courageous battle with cancer.

Connie was born in Altona, N.Y. on March 6, 1948 the daughter of Ross and Evelyn (Jarvis) Finnell. With her family she moved to Brattleboro at the age of six and was raised and educated in town. She attended Saint Michael's Parochial School and was a graduate of Saint Michael's High School, Class of 1966.

She spent her entire working career in banking joining First Vermont Bank following graduation from high school. She started as a teller and held many positions at the bank retiring as purchasing administrator from TD Bank on Main Street following 46 years of faithful service.

Steadfast in her walk of faith she was a devout Catholic and longtime communicant of Saint Michael's Roman Catholic Parish. She was very active within her church serving as a Eucharistic minister for many years. Connie loved gardening and throughout the years she generously provided many arrangements for both the church alter and rectory, all from the gardens at her home.

She also enjoyed vegetable gardening, hiking, snowshoeing and time shared with her family. Connie was known for her spirit of kindness and positive outlook on life.

Active civically, she was a volunteer and served as chairperson for the Relay for Life Program, volunteered for Rescue Inc. working in the front office for Rescue and volunteered her time for the local blood bank.

On December 31, 1976 in Brattleboro she was married to Dennis Covey who survives.

Besides her husband of 35 years she leaves two sons, Shaun St. Germain of Bel Air, Maryland and Shannon Covey of Vernon, one daughter,Dr. Heather Harper of Readfield, ME, three brothers, Michael Finnell of Tucson, AZ, Terry Finnell of Kissimmee, FL and Stephen Finnell of Brattleboro, three sisters, Janice Nichols of Kissimmee, Patricia Buzby of Brattleboro and Cynthia Jacques of Keene.

Additionally she leaves seven grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and several cousins.

She was predeceased by one brother Wayne Finnell.

FUNERAL NOTICE: The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 9:00 A.M. at Saint Michael's Roman Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Richard O'Donnell, V.F. pastor, celebrant. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Parish Cemetery.

Friends are invited to call at the Atamaniuk Funeral Home Friday from 7 to 9 P.M.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Connie's name may be made to Relay For Life, Windham County, 55 Day Lane, Williston, VT 05495.
