Russell O. Capron
1943-2014 ROCKINGHAM, VT Russell 0. Capron, 70, of Missing Link Road died early Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Springfield Hospital. Mr. Capron was born in Bellows Falls, Vt. on February 16, 1943 the son of Orlando and Shirley (King) Capron. He attended school in North Walpole, N.H. and was a 1960 graduate of Bellows Falls High School. He served in the U.S. Navy as a medic at the Chelsea Naval Hospital and Mass General Hospital. He worked at St. Johnsbury Trucking and went on to become the business agent for the Teamsters Local Chapter 597. Mr. Capron dedicated his retirement to community. He was a member of the Bellows Falls Union High School Board, the Rockingham School Board, and the State of Vermont School Board, serving a total of 15 years on school boards. He served as part of the FACT TV board. Mr. Capron had a passion for politics and served as State Chairman of the Ross Perot Campaign. After he retired he enjoyed frequent trips to Oregon to visit his family. He was a member of the American Legion Post #37 and the Elks #1619 both in Bellows Falls. On January 25, 2006 in Portland, Ore. he married Jane St. Lawrence who survives. Also surviving are his daughters, Nancy Capron of Holyoke, Mass. and Susan Dearborn and husband Bryn of Portland, Ore.; his sister, Shirley Capron of North Walpole, N.H.; his grandchildren, Grace, Sadie, and Beatrice; and his nieces, Tracee, Anne, Robyn, and Kate; brothers and sisters-in-law; and several great nieces and nephews. There will be calling hours 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 17 at FENTON HENNESSEY FUNERAL HOME in Bellows Falls, Vt. A funeral mass will be celebrated 1 p.m. Saturday, January 18 at St. Peters Church in North Walpole, N.H. with burial to follow in the St. Peters Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rockingham Free Public Library, Attn: Sam, Children's Library Programs, 65 Westminster Street, Bellows Falls, VT 05101 or to the Bellows Falls Alumni Association, c/o Lori McGinnis, 10 Morgan Street, Bellows Falls, VT 05101.
