Daniel Paul Sullivan, 66, passed away Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at his home in Austin, Texas, after losing his hard-fought battle with cancer.
Dan was born Oct. 14, 1945, in Dayton, Ohio to Daniel and Jane Sullivan. He was an adventurous man who took pride in his family, his work, and his judgment of character. He reached the pinnacle of his career as a mechanical engineer while managing two manufacturing plants in Matamoros, Mexico. He was the type of leader who did not enjoy attention or glory, but stepped aside so that his colleagues could enjoy it. Dan was the type of husband, father, and brother who was always ready to patiently offer a suggestion during a project. His generosity of spirit, sense of humor, and pure nerve brought joy to all who knew him and will be sorely missed. His family finds comfort in the fact that Dan managed to fit the experiences of several lifetimes into one.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Maria Sullivan; his four siblings, Maureen DeBord, Paulyne Holten-Sinder, Carol Ann Rosengarten, and Thomas Sullivan; his four children, Marie Sullivan, Jenny Sullivan, Erin Sullivan, and Daniel Sullivan; and his six grandchildren, who brought him so much happiness.
A private memorial will be held at his house on Sunday, Oct. 14. 2012, Anyone who wishes to attend the memorial or send cards can email [email protected] for information.
In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (www.themmrf.org) or Hospice Austin (www.hospiceaustin.org).

Dan Sullivan, a man I won't forget because I felt in him a very sensitive and kind person. I hope he stays in God's company because he deserves it.

Dan was always glad to host the meetings at his plant and treated everyone with such a high regard. Always willing to lend a hand and make things better wherever he could. He brought a smile everytime he entered a room. Missed by many

He was an amazing man. I got the pleasure of working with him ~ mostly via phone ~ for many years. His spirit and kindness will be greatly missed my everyone who was blessed enough to know him. They don't make them like Dan anymore. He was a one of a kind! (on a funny note, I only ever called him Flowbee because that is what he said he used to trim his hair since he was soooooo busy at work!!! tee hee hee)
