Sgt. Humberto G. Cano, 68, of Brownsville, TX entered into eternal rest on Monday, March 03, 2014 surrounded by his loving family at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas.

He was born in Rangerville, Texas on March 25, 1945.

He is preceded in death by his father Domingo Cano.

He is survived by his mother Juanita Cano and his children; Rosa Maria (Jaime) Valenzuela of Riverside, California, Maria Elena (Randy) Kowalewski of Rancho Cucamonga, California, Beatriz (Nick) Kac of Bend, Oregon and Carlos (Vianey) Gomez of Valle Hermoso, Tamaulipas, Mexico.

He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years Rosa Cano; their children Humberto Cano Jr., Abraham Cano both of Brownsville, Texas. His brothers and sisters; Domingo (Carmen) Cano, Lucia (Rosendo) Sánchez, Esthela (Juan) Muñoz, Lydia (Camilo) Ontiveros, Martin (Carmen) Cano, Susana (Roberto) Grimaldo, Abelina (José de Jesús) Juárez, José de Jesús (Julia) Cano, and Leticia (Ricardo) Flores; his grandchildren, Priscilla Contreras, Mariah and Allyssa Gallegos, Jacob and Rhianna Valenzuela, Milan and Sofija Kac, Vianey and Carlos Gómez.

He was a veteran of the Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1972.

He was a loving son, father, brother, husband and friend. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, the outdoors and fishing. His favorite hobby was to sing with the mariachi and was an avid hard worker. He lived in Rialto, California until his retirement in 2012 in which he moved to Brownsville, Texas to enjoy his retirement where he found peace in Jehovah.

Services have been entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home in Brownsville, Texas.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. today Saturday, March 08, 2014, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2014, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6 p.m.

Interment will be at 1 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2014, at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission, Texas. (956) 350-8485PAIDF
