JACK L. WILSON, SR
Jack L. Wilson, Sr., of Brownsville, Texas, passed away Thursday afternoon, June12, 2014, at home at John Knox Village in Weslaco, Texas. He was born in 1924 and raised in Memphis, Tennessee.
He moved to Brownsville with his wife, Eloise G. Wilson, and children, Jack Jr., Richard and Virginia, in 1954.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ida Mae Pleasance and James L. Wilson, his brother James Wilson, sister, Mary Kathryn Harrison, and son, Jack L. Wilson, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Eloise, son Richard D. Wilson, daughter Virginia W. Morgan, as well as, daughter-in-law Cecily R. Wilson, grandsons, John L. Wilson, Matthew L. Wilson, Brian Wilson and Ian M. Morgan, granddaughters Leah W. Galvan and Mary Katherine Morgan. He leaves three great grandchildren, Logan Wilson, Joshua Galvan and Lili Galvan.
Jack was a veteran of both World War II
, where he was an instructor pilot, and Korea, where he flew the C46 aircraft and dropped paratroopers and supplies. He left the Air Force in 1952 as a First Lieutenant.
He was employed by Weil Brothers Cotton, Inc. for over 45 years, working in their Memphis office, Brownsville office, Houston office and retiring in the Montgomery, Alabama office in 1989, as Vice President of Algondenera Weil, a company he helped start. He then returned to Brownsville with Eloise, and was active in the Church of the Advent, the Rotary Club
of Brownsville, and filled various officer positions with the Sons of the American Revolution, where he had traced his family back to 1640's America. He also spent much time in supporting both the Rancho Viejo and VICC golf courses with his sons and longtime Brownsville friends.
A memorial service is being held at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of John Knox Village, 1300 S. Border, Weslaco, Texas, on Wednesday, June 18, 2014. Interment will be held at the Church of the Advent, Brownsville, Texas, at a future time, date to be determined.PAIF
