Morris "Morrie" Scott Verner III, 67, of Wimberley,TX passed away suddenly on Monday, May 12th, 2014 at his home.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Morris Scott Verner Jr. and Frances Duggan Verner.
Morrie was born on Jan. 23, 1947 in Washington, DC.
He graduated from St. Joseph Academy in 1964 and received a BA in Accounting from the University of Texas
in 1969. In 1969, he married the late Janice Vicars Verner in Brownsville, TX where they raised two children Jayson Scott Verner and Shelly Kristen Verner Patman.
He remarried to Sara Cavazos in 2002 residing in Brownsville, TX before retiring to Wimberley the spring of 2014.
Morrie began his career as a high school Math teacher for the Brownsville Independent School District before owning his own MicroAge computer store franchise in 1985. He was always fascinated with the future, the newest and greatest technology. Morrie later sold his business and went on to lead the development of the Computer Services Department for BISD where he recently retired after 20 years of service.
He had a love for animals and water, spending much of his free time at South Padre Island and recently the Blanco River in Wimberley. He enjoyed road trips with his canine companion, "The General" and spending time with his family and friends outdoors.
Morrie is survived by his wife, Sara Cavazos Verner and two children: Jayson Scott Verner of Austin and Shelly Kristen Verner Patman, of Dallas, two stepsons, Arturo Ramon Jr.; and Alonzo Cavazos and three step-grandchildren, Macie Ballenger; Madeline and Arturo Ramon III.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm. Friday, May 16th at Thomason Funeral Home, 14700 Ranch Road 12, Wimberley, TX 78676. (512)847-2226.
