Paula V. De Leon, 79, passed away peacefully in presence of her loving family on Monday, Oct. 22, 2012 in Brownsville, Texas.
Paulita, as she was loving known to her family and friends, was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who devoted her last 48 years to her husband and children. She was a very giving person who always helped her church, friends, and anyone in need. Paulita was very well known for her famous tamales. She will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Rafael and Antonia Valdez; sisters, Jacoba Vela and Juana Tovar; brother, Benigno Valdez; son, Jose Pablo Solis.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years Gaspar De Leon and her loving children, Antonia Garza, Quirino Garza, Maggie (Carlos) Castro, Gaspar (Betty) De Leon III, Manuel De Leon and Rosa (Cristobal) Navarro; 21 grandchildren numerous great-grandchildren and her caregiver Porfiria Rios.
Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 10:30 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m., today, Wednesday, Oct. 24, at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., on Thursday, Oct. 25, at Holy Family Catholic Church, at 2308 E. Tyler with interment to follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be Gaspar S. De Leon Jr., Gaspar De Leon III, Carlos H. Castro, Carlos H. Castro Jr., Cristobal Navarro, Cristobal Navarro Jr., Manuel De Leon and Quirino Garza.
Special thanks to Dr. De la Vega and staff at the Valley Baptist Medical Center Respiratory Department, 3 Tower Nurses and nurse's assistants, Odyssey Hospice, Father, Jorge Gomez from Holy Family Church and Porfiria Rios, who devoted 10 years to care for our mom.
