William "Bill" Robert Dougherty, 53, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2013, at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen.

Bill was born June 2, 1960, in Manhattan, New York to Dr. Joseph and Katherine Dougherty.

He lived in Middletown, NY for many years and moved to Harlingen in 2005 where he had been an R.N. for the past six years at Valley Baptist Medical Center.

Bill had a passion for school, work and especially helping people. He obtained a B.S. Degree in Psychology, received his L.V.N. Degree from Texas Southmost College in Brownsville in 2007 and obtained his M.S.N. Degree in 2012 from the University of Texas at Brownsville, Texas.

He is survived by son, Joseph Dougherty of Burlington, MA; daughter, Kaitlyn Dougherty of Yonkers, NY; father, Dr. Joseph Dougherty; mother, Katherine Dougherty; sister, Suzanne Dougherty; brother, Timothy Dougherty; sister, Laura Dougherty and nephew, Brian Arriola all of Harlingen, TX.

Visitation hours will be held from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a Holy Rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home, Wednesday, July 17, 2013.

The funeral procession will depart Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2013, for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Fr. Larry Klein as the Celebrant.

Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
