Carlos B. Peña, 81, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle entered into the glory of his eternal life on July 15, 2013, at Valley Baptist Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.|
Carlos was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville.
He was a proud veteran of the Korean War having served in the U. S. Army from 1953-1962.
Carlos was a dedicated employee with Rio Grande Valley Gas Co. now Valero Gas for 25 years before retiring to enjoy the fruits of his labor. Carlos' passion in life was dancing especially to Country Western music. Carlos was a longtime parishioner of Mary Mother of the Church Parish.
Carlos was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by his family but by all those fortunate to have known him.
Carlos was preceded in death by his parents, Luis and Josefina Bustos Peña; and two sisters, Alicia Echevarria and Martha Garcia.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of him is his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Esther Peña; the three sons he was so proud of: Carlos (Jennette) Peña Jr., Armando (Janet) Peña, and Juan Javier (Cori) Peña; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Carlos will also be missed by his sister, Teresa Gallegos, two brothers, Luis and Joaquin Peña, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Viewing will begin at 12 Noon and continue through 9 p.m. today, Wednesday, July 17th.
The family will begin to receive friends starting at 6 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. this evening.
Prior to the rosary service Military Honors will be rendered at 6:45 p.m. for Mr. Peña by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2035.
We ask that everyone meet at the church for the Funeral Mass which will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 18th at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1914 Barnard Road.
All services will conclude after the Mass and in accordance with Carlos' wishes cremation will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Carlos' name may be made to Mary Mother of the Church Parish, 1914 Barnard Road, Brownsville, Texas 78520.
