MR. GUADALUPE "PIN" MARTINEZ

Guadalupe Martinez, 70, entered into the glory of his eternal life on Thursday, May 3, 2012, at his residence surrounded by his loving family after a brief but valiant battle with liver cancer.

A native and lifetime resident of Brownsville, "Pin" as he was affectionately known to all, was a sales representative for various local companies throughout his adult life until he retired several years ago.

Pin was preceded in death by his mother, Benita M. Flores, a son, Baby Johnny Martinez; two sisters: Ma. Anastasia Ramirez and Lucia M. Espinosa; and two brothers: Jose and Lorenzo Flores.

Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of him is his loving and devoted wife of 28 years, Idolina G. Martinez; four daughters: Jessica Marie Martinez, Mary Benita (Fidel) DeLeon, Adela Martinez, and Esmeralda Atkinson; two sons: Jose Guadalupe (Ofelia) Martinez and Luis Carlos (Yolanda) Martinez; twelve grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by his sister, Francisca Gutierrez; and two brothers, Simon Flores and Manuel (Lydia) Martinez.

Visitation will be held today, Sunday, May 6, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. this evening, in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 7, 2012, at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 2800 Rockwell Ave., in Brownsville, Texas. Burial will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.

Leoncio Buenrostro, Nicholas De Leon, Joseph Martinez, Luis Carlos Martinez Jr., Cesar Salas, and Steven Silva are honored to be serving as Pin's pallbearers. Simon Flores, Manuel Martinez, Alfredo Espinosa, and Luis Lucio Jr. will serve as honorary pallbearers.
