Obituary Condolences


Jose "El Güero" Añorga, Jr., 66, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, June 23, 2013, at his residence. He was a lifelong Brownsville resident.

He was a Vietnam War Veteran where he received a Purple Heart. He was a member of the 1st Battalion (Airborne) Cavalry, "Jumping Mustangs." He was an Honorary Trooper with 1st Airborne Battalion 509 Mechanized Infantry.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Simona Flores Añorga; and two brothers, Samuel Flores Añorga and Daniel "Midnight" Añorga.

He is survived by his wife, Yolanda Lopez Añorga; two daughters, Patricia Ann (Noe Marcos Garza) Añorga and Yolanda Añorga (Isaac Ramos); sisters, Emilia (Jaime) Ruiz, Margarita (Raul) Perez, Maria De Jesus (Jose) Orive, Cleotilde (Cesar) Arizmendi and Hilda (Fernando) Cortez; brothers, Juan (Cinfurosa) Añorga, and Noel Añorga; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, Wednesday, June 26, 2013, with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. at Treviño Funeral Home, 1355 Old Port Isabel Road.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2013, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Military Rites will be conducted by the VFW Post No. 2035 Honor Guard.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Treviño Funeral Home, 1355 Old Port Isabel Road, Brownsville, Texas 78521.
