Jose Palafox Obituary
Jose Luis Palafox, Sr. 64, of Brownsville, Texas was born on May 24, 1944, in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico and passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at Valley Baptist Medical Center- Brownsville.
Mr. Palafox was a Vietnam Veteran of the U.S. Army. and a lifetime Brownsville resident.
Jose Luis Palafox was preceded in death by his first wife Oralia H. Palafox and a brother Felipe Palafox.
Survivors include his wife, Maria Antonia Palafox of Brownsville; two daughters, Juanita Palafox of Brownsville and Judith (Angel) Melchor of Laredo, Texas; three sons, Jose Luis (Yolanda) Palafox Jr. of McAllen, Texas, Jorge (Jessica) Palafox of Brownsville, Jaime (Rosie) Palafox; eight grandchildren, Joe Albert, Oralia, Nicholas Garza, Trinity Melchor, Jaime Adrian, Alexis Palafox, Jorge and Jesse Palafox, who will also serve as honorary pallbearers; one sister, Marta Rodriguez of Brownsville; two brothers, Javier Palafox of Brownsville and Angel Palafox of Goletta, Calif.; his mother, Maria Carmen Palafox of Brownsville, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. with recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 27, 2008.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on on Saturday, June 28, 2008, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, with Deacon Paul McArdle officiating. Interment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park, with full military honors.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jose Luis Palafox Jr., Jorge Palafox, Jaime Palafox, Angel Melchor, Angel Palafox, and Javier Palafox.
Funeral services are under the direction of Joe I. Treviño, Garza Memorial Funeral Home, 1025 E. Jackson St., (956) 542-5511.
