Ma. Cecilia "Bel" Salas, 55, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, in Brownsville, Texas.|
Cecilia was born on Oct. 23, 1956, in Premont, Texas. Her family moved to Brownsville in 1957. She attended Ebony Heights, Stell Middle School and Hanna High School graduating in 1975. She earned a Bachelor's degree from Pan American University in Brownsville. She began teaching with BISD at Garden Park Elem. and later moved to Burns Elem. She taught ESL, 3rd and 4th grades for 31 years. She was also involved with teaching Charro Days dances for many years. She loved her catholic religion and worked very hard in the fundraising committee to help build the Parish of the Lord of Divine Mercy. Her hobbies were dancing/dancing, shopping/ shopping. All songs were her favorite. She was a very devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. HER WORLD WAS HER SON MICHAEL ANTHONY SALAS! She will be greatly missed!
Mrs. Salas is preceded in death by her mother, Santos Alcala Perez; brother-in-law, David Rolando Garcia; father-in-law, Raul Salas.
She is survived by the love of her life, her husband, Rene Salas; her loving son, Michael A. Salas and girlfriend, Laura Miglin; father, Tomas C. Perez, Jr.; sisters, Leticia Garcia, Nora (Joe) Garcia; brother, Tomas (Nora) Perez III; nephews, David (Denise) Garcia Jr. and Tomas Perez III; nieces, Clarissa E. Garcia, Amanda C. Garcia, Rebecca R. Garcia, Gina N. Garcia and Sarah M. Perez; great niece, Angelina S. Garcia ; great nephew, David R. Garcia III, Angel of Earth Ezekiel I. Peña; The daughter she never had, Nereida Ybarra, along with all the Salas Family.
Visitation will be held today Monday, Oct. 1, 2012 from 2 p.m. - 10 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Lord of Divine Mercy, with interment to follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Serving as pallbearers: Tomas Perez III, David R. Garcia, Michael A. Salas, Tomas Perez IV, Raul R. Salas and Pablo Coronado Jr.
In lieu of flowers the family would like a donation be done to the Breast Cancer society in her name.
