Mariano Rey, 96, of San Pedro, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012 at Solara Hospital in Brownsville, Texas.|
Mr. Rey is preceded in death by his loving wife, Rebecca Rey; one son, Juan Manuel Rey, and two grandchildren, Araceli Torres and Riley Rey.
Mariano spent his life in the agriculture business until he retired. He loved spending time outside tending to his plants. He will be most remembered as a hardworking and loving man. He cared dearly for his entire family and his generosity was immeasurable. Mr. Rey will be greatly missed.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of him are his children, Jacinto (Rosa+) Rey, Mariano (Trina +) Rey Jr., Hector (Adelaida) Rey, Jesus (Mari) Rey, Cruz (Mary) Rey, Jose Luis (Rubina) Rey, Carlos Rey, Gloria (Enrique+) Ramirez, Juanita (Guillermo) Torres, and Josie (David) Gonzalez.
Also surviving are 29 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitations will be held from 10 a.m to 9 p.m. today Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012 at Guerra Funeral Home "Chapel of the Arch Angels" with a Holy Rosary recited at 7 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012 at San Pedro Catholic Church.
Interment will follow at San Pedro Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Hugo Ramirez, Hector Rey Jr., Mariano Rey III, Rodney Gonzalez, Reynaldo Rey and Guillermo Torres Jr.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Juan Manuel Torres, Michael Gonzalez, Enrique Ramirez Jr. and Jesus Rey Jr.
